About Me

Biography

Carey Cameron is a sophomore from Severna Park, MD studying English with a concentration in Media Studies at the University of Maryland. Her interests include film and television, writing, comedy, and learning new arts skills that she is mediocre at. Her writing and film interests focus on humor as a unique way to genuinely portray the human experience. She can also do a spot on Bernie Sanders impression. After graduating she hopes to move to New York City and write for late night television, or she will attend law school in a vain attempt to be able to support herself financially.

During her time as a College Park Arts Scholar, Carey hopes to grow her confidence in writing as well as to try out  filmmaking and. She is excited to learn new arts concentrations from her peers, mentors, and guest artists. Although she is interested in the new ways artists are working around the Covid-19 pandemic, she hopes to be able to explore the arts opportunities around both College Park and Washington DC soon. She is interested in becoming involved with student advocacy groups (such as PSA UMD) on campus and an obscure club sport of some kind. Her goals while at university include finding new passions, developing a mastery of communications (especially public speaking), and being able to give back to the community through volunteer activities and advocacy work.
